Bnei Sakhnin claims: "Players' and fans' vehicles were attacked after the match against Netanya"
According to the club, Iyad Abu Abaid's vehicle was attacked while his pregnant wife was with him, and the vehicles of Ilay Hajaj and several team fans were also damaged. Abu Abaid was summoned to give testimony to the police: "Serious and worrying incidents that could have ended in severe physical harm."
Bnei Sakhnin published a statement this evening (Monday) claiming that several vehicles belonging to team players and fans were attacked following the match against Maccabi Netanya. According to the club, the incidents occurred dozens of meters from the Netanya Stadium after the teams finished in a 0-0 draw.
"The Hapoel Ihud Bnei Sakhnin Football Club wishes to express deep concern following a serious incident that occurred this evening, dozens of meters from the Netanya Stadium."
According to the club, team player Iyad Abu Abaid was in his vehicle with his pregnant wife when they were attacked. The club stated that Abu Abaid attempted to drive away from the scene to avoid confrontation. Later, he was stopped by the police and summoned to the station tomorrow to provide testimony and clarify the circumstances of the incident.
Bnei Sakhnin noted that this was not an isolated case. According to the statement, the vehicle of player Ilay Hajaj was also attacked, as well as a car carrying a group of Bnei Sakhnin fans, including a medical student.
"These are serious and worrying incidents that could have ended in severe physical harm. There is no place for violence of any kind inside or outside football stadiums."
The club expects the Israel Police and all authorized bodies to investigate the incidents thoroughly, identify those responsible, and bring them to justice. "We ask the general public and the fans to act responsibly, avoid violence, and allow for a normal and encouraging football atmosphere."
