BMW Updates 7 Series Flagship with Refreshed Design and Pure Gasoline
BMW updates its flagship 7 Series with a refreshed design, modernized digital cockpit, and the reintroduction of a pure gasoline powertrain option.

BMW has updated its flagship 7 Series, introducing a refined exterior, a modernized cockpit, and a strategic return to pure internal combustion engines without electrical assistance. The updated luxury sedan navigates shifting global market demands while preserving its characteristic driving dynamics.
Design Updates and Cabin Technology
The exterior refresh brings subtle modifications, highlighted by a revised front fascia featuring split lighting units and a redesigned grille. Inside, the 7 Series adopts BMW's latest widescreen display configuration, integrating driving data below the windshield. However, the removal of the physical iDrive controller in favor of touchscreen-only climate and vehicle controls marks a controversial shift in ergonomics.
Powertrain and Performance
The most notable mechanical addition is the 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six gasoline engine delivering 400 horsepower and 59.1 kgm of torque. Paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission, the 740 model emphasizes a lighter, more agile footprint compared to its heavier plug-in hybrid and fully electric i7 counterparts, offering a traditional driving experience that appeals to classic luxury buyers.
