It is further alleged that Beyoncé and her team did not obtain a license to use the segment prior to the album's release. Several weeks after the launch, a license was obtained only from the performer, Holiday, who, according to Hirose, transferred all his rights to the song decades ago.
According to Hirose, the company notified Beyoncé's team about the copyright infringement, but despite this, the recording continued to be sold. The company is now asking the court to issue an injunction to prevent Beyoncé from continuing to profit from the work and is seeking damages in an unspecified amount.
