Ben Gvir Confronts 1996 Jerusalem Bus Bombing Terrorist in Prison
National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir confronted imprisoned Hamas terrorist Hassan Salama, declaring his intent to push for his execution and harsher prison conditions.
Itamar Ben Gvir visited terrorist Hassan Salama in prison, releasing footage confronting the perpetrator of the 1996 Jerusalem bus bombings. Salama is serving a life sentence for orchestrating the deadly attacks on line 18.
During the confrontation, National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir told Salama that he had demonstrated against his attacks as an 18-year-old youth. He emphasized the heavy civilian toll of the bombings, which killed dozens of people.
Describing the encounter on X, Ben Gvir called it a full-circle moment from his youth activism to confronting the mastermind as the minister overseeing prisons. He told Salama that he intends to make his time in custody as harsh as possible.
Ben Gvir added that current prison condition restrictions are only the beginning, openly declaring his desire to see the terrorist executed. The Otzma Yehudit party continues to push for capital punishment legislation for terrorists.
