Police closed a Beitar Illit daycare after eight toddlers suffered allergic reactions from canned tuna. Three children were hospitalised in mild condition as authorities investigate.

Police closed a daycare center in Beitar Illit on Tuesday and opened an investigation after eight toddlers developed severe allergic reactions from eating canned tuna. Three of the children were evacuated to a hospital in mild condition, while the Ministry of Health was promptly updated on the incident.
Emergency dispatchers received reports around 10:25 AM regarding multiple children exhibiting allergy symptoms at an educational facility in the city. Medical teams arrived at the scene, treated eight victims, and began evacuating other occupants from the building as a precautionary measure.
First responders reported that daycare staff stated the toddlers felt unwell immediately after consuming tuna fish. Due to initial concerns regarding hazardous materials, firefighters from the Judea regional station conducted monitoring operations and ruled out any chemical leaks or toxic substances. Police confirmed that witness testimonies point to an adverse reaction from food exposure.
MDA and United Hatzalah medical teams provided treatment to eight people at the site, with three transported in mild condition to Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital. Meanwhile, police ordered the immediate closure of the daycare and launched an official investigation, coordinating with the Ministry of Health. Numerous parents who rushed to the scene experienced anxiety attacks and received psychological first aid outside the facility.
