Suspect Arrested at Ben Gurion Airport After Fleeing Israel on Stolen Passport
A suspect in drug offenses was arrested at Ben Gurion Airport after allegedly fleeing Israel using another person's biometric passport in violation of house arrest.

Haim Netanel Emmanuel, a suspect in drug offenses, was arrested at Ben Gurion Airport upon his return to Israel. He had allegedly fled the country using another person's biometric passport in violation of a court-mandated house arrest.
Arrest at Ben Gurion Airport
Emmanuel was originally placed under house arrest amid an ongoing drug investigation. During a routine compliance check by Judea and Samaria District police officers, it was discovered that he had violated the terms and escaped the country. Police initiated a covert investigation to track his movements and anticipated his return. Upon landing, detectives from the Judea and Samaria District, assisted by airport police, intercepted and arrested him.
Police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the use of the stolen biometric passport, as well as alleged tampering with flight details. Authorities indicated that another suspect is expected to be arrested in connection with the case.
Court Proceedings and Medical Claims
During the remand hearing at the Petah Tikva Magistrates' Court, police representatives argued that Emmanuel's actions pose a severe risk of obstructing the investigation, requesting a seven-day extension.
"The suspect's conduct, specifically breaching house arrest and fleeing the country, raises a tangible fear of tampering with legal proceedings," stated the police representative.
Defense counsel urged the court to release Emmanuel, citing complex medical conditions and requesting an alternative to detention to ensure proper medical care.
Judge Dalia Astreicher reviewed the classified evidence and ruled that a continued risk of obstruction justified extending the detention, though she shortened the requested period, ordering him held until Monday, October 12, while mandating that prison authorities provide necessary medical treatment.
