Beit Shemesh: Three toddlers hospitalized after swallowing large quantity of medication
MADA teams were called this morning to Beit Shemesh following a report of three sisters who, according to their family, consumed a large quantity of medication. They were evacuated in stable condition to Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital in Jerusalem. Experts remind parents to keep medications and dangerous substances out of children's reach.
MADA's Shabbat duty teams were called this morning, Saturday, to Beit Shemesh following a report of three sisters who consumed a large quantity of medication.
"When we arrived at the scene, we saw three sisters, toddlers aged one, two, and three, with clouded consciousness after, according to their family members, they swallowed a large quantity of medication," said paramedic Nati Ben Shimon and medics Kobi Marder and Yehoshua Gottlieb. The toddlers were given initial medical assistance and were evacuated for further treatment to Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital in Jerusalem in stable condition.
The "Tzevet Hatzala" organization reminds parents again to be careful to place medications and dangerous substances in high places and keep them out of children's reach.
Earlier this week, a child of about 4 years old was killed by a vehicle in Beit Shemesh, after MADA medics and paramedics who were called to the scene fought for his life and performed prolonged resuscitation efforts.
"We saw the child lying in the middle of the road, unconscious, without a pulse or breathing, with severe injuries to his body after being hit by a vehicle," said MADA teams who arrived at the scene, Evyatar Yamin, Roi Ben Shoham, and Yehoshua Gottlieb. They added: "We provided him with advanced medical treatment that included prolonged resuscitation efforts, but to our great sorrow, we had no choice but to pronounce his death."
