Beersheba Court to Sentence Driver in Fatal Crash That Killed Young Couple

The Beersheba District Court is set to sentence Suriya Abu Arar, who was convicted of reckless homicide in the deaths of engaged couple Shahaf Danino and Eliav Abukasis, who were killed in a fatal car crash months before their wedding.

According to the indictment, Abu Arar was driving at excessive speeds and overtook other vehicles while crossing a solid white line. Families of the victims are expected to attend the sentencing hearing.

"Shahaf and Eliav were not just statistics; they were young people with dreams and a future," the sister of Shahaf said. Attorney Hadas Berich, representing the families, stated that the driver ignored all traffic rules, putting countless lives at risk before the fatal collision.
