Spanish actor Javier Bardem has joined the campaign calling on UNICEF to strip the American singer Pink of her title as a Goodwill Ambassador. Bardem, known for his vocal anti-Israel positions, shared several Instagram stories supporting a petition against the artist following her criticism of Macklemore's opening performance during Ed Sheeran's tour.
The petition, which remains active online, has garnered over 160,000 verified signatures. It argues that Pink's recent statements regarding Macklemore's political messaging are incompatible with her role as a UN representative expected to promote peace, understanding, and humanitarian values above personal biases.
The Controversy at MetLife Stadium
The backlash began after Pink shared footage from Ed Sheeran's concert at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, where rapper Macklemore served as the opening act. Macklemore wore a keffiyeh, shouted anti-Israel slogans, and performed his controversial track "Hind's Hall", which supports anti-Israel campus protests.
In her social media commentary, Pink expressed dismay, stating that Jewish fans attended the concert to enjoy music rather than encounter political propaganda. Her remarks drew swift criticism from pro-Palestinian activists, prompting the singer to issue a clarifying statement.
