The appointment had previously cleared the Ayalon Highways board of directors, the Government Companies Authority, and the appointments committee headed by retired Judge Shulamit Dotan. However, protocols revealed that two individuals whose signatures appeared on David's submitted documents denied ever signing them during the journalistic investigation.
"The committee determined that there is a reasonable suspicion of an extreme gap between the information submitted and the actual data," officials stated.
Political Repercussions and Legal Scrutiny
Political tensions have emerged as associates of David Amsalem point fingers at Minister of Transport Miri Regev, while Regev's circle claims an Amsalem loyalist pushed for the nomination. Police are investigating potential forgery, and the Israel Police, along with the Attorney General, will examine whether to remove him from his role in the Sports Betting Council.
