Avigdor Lieberman supports tennis club owner: "Do not cut off his livelihood"

Aylon Levy, a 48-year-old ultra-Orthodox resident of Hod HaSharon, has been managing the tennis club at the Sportan complex for 27 years. Levy, a father of 10 and a grandfather, served in the IDF, and his legal status at the site is that of a tenant.

After years of training generations of tennis players in the city, the owners of the Sportan notified him that the rent would be increased fourfold. According to Levy, this followed an offer they received from the company Tero, which is interested in taking over his space.

Levy stated that he was willing to raise the rent by a reasonable amount to reach an agreement, but claims this was rejected by the Sportan owners, specifically Haim Frankel. Levy was ordered to vacate the premises by the end of the month.

Levy's story reached MK Avigdor Lieberman, who is a tennis player himself. On Tuesday at 8:00 PM, Lieberman arrived at the Sportan, played a match with Levy, and offered his support.

During the visit, about 30 parents and children held a demonstration in support of Levy. It was reported that the residents who came to back him are secular individuals who have accompanied Levy throughout his years of running the club.

Following the game, Levy and Lieberman were filmed in a short video in which Lieberman called on the Sportan owners to keep Levy in place and not to cut off his livelihood.
