While online claims of a deliberate ramming are circulating, the regime maintains it was an accident caused by a driver in an impaired state.
Parallel to the wave of attacks, Iranian opposition activist Vahid Ovelin published last night (between Tuesday and Wednesday) videos from the scene of an incident that, according to his description, took place in Mashhad, where a vehicle hit a gathering of Basij members.
The Iranian traffic police stated that it was an accident: a vehicle traveling at high speed collided with another car, lost control, and struck the crowd gathered on the side of the street in support of the regime and the armed forces. According to the statement, "the driver was not in a normal state," and several citizens were killed and others injured in the incident.
The US military attacked southern Iran last night in response to attacks by the Revolutionary Guards against commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz and a missile attack on American bases in Jordan, as announced by the US Central Command (CENTCOM). President Donald Trump stated that the strikes are also a response to eight missiles that Iran launched at an American base in Jordan and threatened that if Tehran responds, "it will suffer a much stronger blow."
"We will respond decisively"
Iran, for its part, returned fire—and according to reports, attacked American bases in Bahrain, Jordan, and Kuwait. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei wrote on the X network that a residential house in Kohestan was attacked during a wedding celebration, and that "more than 50 innocent men, women, and children were killed or injured."
"Iran will respond to these barbaric crimes decisively," Baghaei stated, addressing countries and international institutions that remain silent. — "Their silence is not neutrality. Those who are silent today will not be immune from the consequences tomorrow."
