Police have filed an indictment against a 42-year-old resident of Ashkelon for breaking into and stealing from a gas station convenience store in Kiryat Shmona. According to law enforcement, the suspect meticulously planned the heist, conducting prior reconnaissance of the site before making off with dozens of cigarette packs valued at thousands of shekels.

The incident began early in the morning when a station employee reported that the convenience store had been burglarized. Northern District officers rushed to the scene, launched an immediate investigation, gathered forensic evidence, and reviewed security camera footage.

Footage revealed that the suspect squeezed his upper body through a small window in the store to extract the stolen merchandise. Following extensive area searches, officers located the suspect in the city shortly afterward in possession of the stolen goods. He was arrested and taken in for questioning.

Investigators uncovered that the suspect visited the store multiple times during the night to scout the location. He then broke in through the window and stole 58 packs of cigarettes with an estimated total value of 2,404 shekels. His detention was extended periodically, and the prosecution branch has formally filed an indictment against him at the Kiryat Shmona court.
