Ariel University launched a new six-year medicine track at the Adelson School of Medicine, welcoming 80 new students to help address the national physician shortage.

Ariel University inaugurated its new six-year medicine track at the Adelson School of Medicine, marking a significant step toward alleviating the severe shortage of physicians in the country. The launch brings 80 new students into the six-year program, joining 400 medical students currently enrolled in the four-year track operating since 2019.
Expanding Medical Education
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Prof. Miriam Adelson, Ariel University President Prof. Ehud Grossman, Minister of Education Yoav Kisch, Ministry of Health Director-General Moshe Bar Siman-Tov, and Medical School Dean Prof. Iris Barshak. According to the Council for Higher Education projections, approximately 1,560 students began medical studies this academic year, representing a 12% increase, with a target of 1,700 for the upcoming year.
Addressing the students, Dr. Miriam Adelson advised: "Always remember that behind every patient is a human being. If you treat them as people and see their life stories, you will become better doctors."
A Personal Commitment
First-year student Hagar Bar-Sadeh, who immigrated to Israel alone as a lone soldier and served as a rescue instructor in the Home Front Command, shared her journey. "I could have returned to the United States to study medicine, but it was important for me to stay and contribute to the country," she said.
