However, manager Mikel Arteta dedicated a large portion of his post-match comments to a controversial penalty awarded against his team in the second half, warning that such decisions could impact the title race.

The VAR decided not to intervene, confirming the decision. Enzo Le Fee stepped up to take the penalty, but David Raya saved the shot, pushing it onto the post. Just 121 seconds later, Bruno Guimaraes put Arsenal ahead, and Bukayo Saka sealed the victory with a late penalty.

"The first thing we need to talk about is this," Arteta opened his press conference. "It is unacceptable at this level. I watched the sequence 20 times and I cannot understand how they thought to give a penalty in this situation, or how the VAR did not intervene. I don't know what to think."

Pundits Divided Over Controversial Penalty

Opinions among English pundits were divided. Former player Karen Carney mentioned the new Premier League referee guidelines to crack down on holding in the box, saying: "Konsa was all over Ballard. You have to look at the ball." Former Arsenal player Martin Keown also admitted that Konsa "took a risk," though he noted that Ballard also grabbed his arm.

On the other hand, Ashley Williams was adamant: "This is completely not a penalty. Ballard pulls Konsa's shoulder down and he falls over him. It's almost a perfect judo throw. It's very clever by Ballard, but by no means a penalty."

Alongside the controversy, the focus in England remained on the champions' impressive run. Arsenal recorded their ninth consecutive league victory—something they haven't done since the "Invincibles" season in 2003/04—and kept a clean sheet for the fifth time in six games in all competitions this season. They also have yet to concede in their three away games.

David Raya, who saved only his second Premier League penalty, received high praise. Thomas Frank, who coached him at Brentford, said: "For me he is the best goalkeeper in the Premier League and one of the best in the world." Keown added: "He was immense and doesn't get enough credit."

Bruno Guimaraes, who arrived in the summer from Newcastle for 75 million pounds and had not started since the Community Shield, seized the opportunity with a spectacular goal.
