Family of Late IDF Reserve Officer Launches Campaign to Save Home in Ramat Gan
The family of late IDF Lt. Col. (res.) Ariel Konik launched a crowdfunding campaign to save their Ramat Gan home after his businesses collapsed during over two years of continuous reserve service following October 7.

Lieutenant Colonel (res.) Ariel Konik took his own life six months ago, following more than two years of intensive reserve service since the outbreak of the war on October 7. As his businesses collapsed during his prolonged absence at the front, his family has launched a crowdfunding campaign to save their home in Ramat Gan from foreclosure.
On the morning of October 7, 59-year-old Ariel Konik told his wife Tali that he would be back in a few hours, grabbing his personal Jeep to help transport commanders and soldiers to combat zones. He served continuously for over two years, participating in the recovery of bodies and eventually entering the Gaza Strip with military forces. "He was always the strongest person in the room," Tali recalls.
The Toll of Prolonged Combat Service
While Ariel dedicated himself entirely to national service and rescuing hostages, his civilian life and businesses fell into complete ruin. Relatives noted that the severe trauma of the October 7 massacres ultimately broke a man who was accustomed to acting as the unwavering pillar of strength for everyone around him.
The pain and trauma of October 7 broke him. He was used to holding on for everyone else, until he could no longer do it.
Despite displaying symptoms of severe post-traumatic stress, including hypervigilance, insomnia, and sudden outbursts, Ariel consistently reassured his family that everything was under control. In March, overwhelmed by mounting debts and psychological distress, he died by suicide.
Crowdfunding Campaign to Save the Family Home
With her husband gone and their enterprises ruined, Tali now faces the imminent loss of the Ramat Gan house where they built their lives and raised their children. The family has initiated a crowdfunding campaign titled "For Ariel's Home," aiming to raise 400,000 shekels to secure their shelter.
-
Service Duration: Over two years of continuous reserve duty.
-
Initial Goal: 400,000 NIS via crowdfunding.
-
Location: Ramat Gan.
"I am not asking for pity, only mutual responsibility," Tali stated, emphasizing that keeping their home is essential to preserving the memory and safety that Ariel left behind for their children.
