Police Called to Ariel City Council Meeting Following Assault
A municipal employee received medical treatment after a violent altercation involving former MK Oren Hazan at the Ariel city council meeting.
A heated dispute at the Ariel city council meeting ended with police called to the scene and a municipal employee receiving medical treatment. According to an official statement, council member and former Knesset member Oren Hazan allegedly assaulted the employee during the session.
The municipality stated that the incident occurred amid clashes provoked by Hazan in an attempt to disrupt the proceedings. Mayor Yair Shtaboun condemned the incident and stressed that violence against municipal workers and public figures will not be tolerated.
Following the incident, Shtaboun announced he will turn to the Ministry of Interior demanding that council meetings be suspended until a disciplinary review regarding Hazan is conducted. The mayor also published a video addressing the violent episode.
