Ramat HaSharon Removes Unauthorized Sign Targeting Unit 8200
The Ramat HaSharon municipality removed an unauthorized sign targeting Unit 8200 over October 7, condemning it as illegal, harmful to IDF soldiers, and divisive.
The Ramat HaSharon municipality removed a sign on Thursday placed on Yitzhak Hoofni Street in Glilot with the inscription: "8200, where were you on October 7." The sign had been put up a day earlier, marking the third anniversary of the Hamas massacre. The municipality explained that the sign, which targeted the elite cyber intelligence and warfare unit within Aman, was removed because it was "illegal, harms IDF soldiers, and seeks to sow accusations and conspiracies."
According to the municipality, the installers did not request municipal approval and acted without coordination. At this stage, it remains unknown who is behind the signage. The Ramat HaSharon municipality stated: "Freedom of speech must not become the freedom to incite, certainly not with the aim of harming the IDF and its soldiers and sowing accusations and conspiracies. Public discourse in Israel can be sharp, critical, and free, but the IDF and IDF soldiers should not be the target of political attacks."
The municipality added: "We will certainly not allow incitement or the casting of blame against soldiers and IDF personnel, and certainly not in the public space of our city. IDF soldiers belong to all of us, and they are not a party to the political struggle."
