Prof. Rafael Barkan Appointed as New President of Holon Institute of Technology
Prof. Rafael Barkan takes over as the new president of the Holon Institute of Technology, succeeding Prof. Edward Yakubov, with a mandate to advance research and industry ties.
Prof. Rafael Barkan has been appointed as the new president of the Holon Institute of Technology (HIT), succeeding Prof. Edward Yakubov, who has led the institution since 2013. Prof. Barkan previously served as the Vice President for Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Internationalization at HIT, bringing extensive academic and managerial experience in medicine, technology, and research.
In his new capacity, Barkan will steer the institute toward expanding academic and technological disciplines, strengthening research and innovation, and deepening collaboration between academia and industry. Outgoing president Yakubov was commended for broadening the institute's applied research and strengthening ties with Israeli society and the global arena during his tenure.

PINCHAS (Pini) COHEN, Chairman of the HIT Board of Trustees, congratulated the appointment, expressing confidence that Barkan will sustain the institute's development momentum and foster academic excellence.
