After setting a Guinness World Record: the world's youngest artist opens an exhibition before the age of 3
John Christian Caldeira Waibol entered the Guinness Book of Records when he was just ten months old. Now, the toddler who started painting on canvas before he even learned to walk will present his abstract works at a professional exhibition in Malmö.
Even before he learned to walk, John Christian Caldeira Waibol had already entered the Guinness Book of Records. The child, born in Marbella, Spain, was recognized as the "youngest artist" after his record was verified on October 19, 2024, when he was 10 months and 7 days old.
Now, almost two years after setting the record, his works are set to be presented to the public at an exhibition in Malmö, Sweden. The exhibition, titled "Art: My First Language," will be displayed at the MIVA Fine Art gallery from November 20 to 22.
According to the Guinness Book of Records, John's artistic journey began as early as five months old. His mother, Rubia Caldeira, gave him an LED drawing tablet, and he began to scribble on it. At the age of six or seven months, the child moved on to paints and canvases, and his parents continued to document his activity. In October 2024, when he was 10 months old, the record was verified and the baby was awarded the coveted title. The Guinness website stated that John was described as active and observant, and that already in the first months of his life he began to create abstract paintings using the tablet and later using paints and canvases.
The organization had previously also recognized Ace-Liam Nana Sam Ankrah from Ghana as the youngest artist, at the age of one year and 152 days; the records vary depending on the categories and the organization's updates.
Now his work is expected to reach an audience in Sweden. The MIVA Fine Art gallery, which operates galleries in Gothenburg and Malmö, will host the three-day exhibition, where the talented toddler's works will be displayed.
