Anthropic continues its impressive growth trajectory ahead of a planned IPO. According to a Bloomberg report, the company's annual revenue run rate reached $65 billion by the end of July. This marks a significant increase from the $47 billion recorded in May and the $9 billion figure at the end of 2025.

By this metric, the company has surpassed its main rival, OpenAI, which recently recorded an annual revenue run rate of over $40 billion (though it is possible the two companies do not measure this figure identically). Furthermore, Bloomberg reports that in the last quarter, Anthropic disclosed to investors a revenue of $11.5 billion, a surge of more than 1,360% compared to the same quarter in 2025. The company also reported positive adjusted operating income.

Anthropic's success is a direct result of its strategy to focus on the business sector and develop tools tailored specifically to enterprise needs. Accordingly, its chatbot, Claude, does not offer capabilities such as image or video generation, but rather features relevant to corporate operations—some of which threaten to replace existing workflows.

In recent months, OpenAI has attempted to mirror this strategy, reducing or closing various projects such as the Sora video generation model and the Atlas AI browser. Currently, the company is struggling to record growth acceleration similar to that of Anthropic. At the same time, OpenAI is navigating internal challenges, including a series of high-level executive resignations and low employee morale.
