Romanian Airline AnimaWings Files for Bankruptcy, Stranding Israelis in Bucharest
Romanian airline AnimaWings has filed for bankruptcy, leaving hundreds of Israeli tourists stranded in Bucharest with canceled return flights and mounting expenses.

The Romanian airline AnimaWings, which operates direct flights between Tel Aviv and Bucharest, announced this week that it has filed for bankruptcy due to financial difficulties. Hundreds of Israeli passengers who traveled to Romania with the company found themselves stranded after receiving notice that their return flights were canceled.
"My husband and I arrived as part of an organized group last week and were supposed to return to Israel yesterday," says Ziva, a resident of Harish. "Yesterday we received a notification that our flight was canceled due to the company's situation, and dozens of us here on an organized trip have no way to get back home."
Passengers report a severe lack of communication and limited flight availability. While requests have reportedly been made to Israeli authorities to approve additional seats on Tarom flights, approvals are still pending, leaving travelers to cover their own extended hotel and living expenses out of pocket.
