People With Disabilities

Eden creates ceramics and Anna sews tablecloths and pillows. At the Akim vocational and employment center in Afula, small and repetitive actions gradually turn into skill, confidence, and independence. Now the products that they and hundreds of other participants with disabilities create by hand are sold on the "Akimarket" website - and all proceeds go to them alone.

Broken sidewalks, open pits, traffic lights without accessibility buttons, and speeding cyclists make every outing for the visually impaired a survival struggle. Residents report a lack of oversight and safety, while the municipality claims it is working to improve urban accessibility.
