Migrant Crisis

Pedro Sanchez accused Israel, Russia, and the far-right of attempting to "divide Spain and Europe over the issue of migration." The Prime Minister ruled out any possibility of involvement by Moroccan authorities in the breach by migrants who flooded the Spanish enclave in North Africa.

The European Commission is in talks with the Spanish government regarding an additional aid package after approximately 72,000 migrants entered the city of Ceuta from Moroccan territory last week. The funds are expected to be used to strengthen border security and expand humanitarian and medical support for those remaining in the city.

The Italian government has officially announced the suspension of the Schengen Agreement with Spain due to an unprecedented migration wave into Ceuta. Approximately 49,000 migrants entered the Spanish enclave within 24 hours.
