While for many Israelis the summer months are the peak of the tourist season, the New York Police Department (NYPD) has published data presenting a worrying trend. Despite reports of the safest summer on record in the city, antisemitic incidents have risen by 8% since the start of the year, now accounting for over half of all hate crimes in New York.

Hate crimes in New York City have recorded a worrying increase over the past year, with attacks against Jews remaining at the center of the data. According to new crime statistics released by the New York Police Department, the number of hate crimes in the city rose from 367 cases in 2025 to 425 cases in 2026, an increase of 15.8%.

FBI data reveals that 2025 was the third-worst year for anti-Jewish hate crimes: 1,528 incidents were directed against Jews, alongside assaults, murders, and hundreds of threats - a 21.2% decrease compared to 2024, but still an abnormal level.

FBI hate crime data for 2025 points to an exceptional and persistent scope of harm against Jews in the U.S.: despite making up only about 2% of the population, they were the target of 63% of all religion-based hate crimes. In some states, this figure reached 90% or more.

Due to a combination of negligence, blindness, and populism, Israel is losing the ability to deal with terror. The new stage in the war of consciousness against us comes from both the right and the left, and Jewish terror only fuels it.

New York police data indicate a 53.3% increase in antisemitic incidents in July compared to last year. Although Jews make up only 10% of the city's population, they were the target of nearly 70% of all verified hate crimes last month.
