A widespread outbreak of salmonella is causing concern in the United States: The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), along with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), are investigating a multi-state outbreak of Salmonella Javiana linked to fresh jalapeño peppers. According to official reports, 345 people across 27 states have been infected.
