Shin Bet Director David Zini recently made a secret working visit to Paris amid severe domestic unrest in France and ongoing diplomatic tensions between the two nations.

During his visit, Zini held meetings with senior French internal security officials, including representatives from the DGSI internal intelligence agency and the DGSE foreign intelligence service. Israeli security sources confirmed the meetings focused on counterterrorism cooperation and intelligence sharing, despite Paris leading diplomatic criticism against Israel and barring Israeli defense industries from major military exhibitions.

Security officials emphasized that intelligence cooperation between Israel and European nations continues regardless of political crises. Neither the Shin Bet nor French authorities officially commented on the schedule of the visit.

The unrest in France, triggered by student protests and fueled by economic grievances, has led to over 2,400 arrests and extensive damage to thousands of businesses nationwide. President Emmanuel Macron rejected the resignation of Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez as the government imposed curfews to restore order.
