Zichron Yaakov Resident Indicted for Brutal Stabbing and Abuse of His Dog
A Zichron Yaakov resident was indicted for severe animal abuse after repeatedly stabbing his dog. Neighbors intervened, and the dog's life was saved following emergency surgery.

A resident of Zichron Yaakov has been charged with severe animal abuse after allegedly stabbing his dog multiple times with a kitchen knife. The indictment, filed in the Hadera Magistrate's Court, details a violent episode that was halted by vigilant neighbors. The dog underwent surgery and her life was saved.
According to the indictment, late in the evening on October 1, the young man took his mixed-breed dog out of the home he shares with his mother. He began punching her, causing the dog to flee. He soon managed to catch her and brought her back inside the house.
Around 4:30 in the morning, he took a 13-centimeter kitchen knife and went back out into the street, where he began stabbing the dog with the intent to kill her. The injured animal tried to escape once more, but he pursued her. The indictment states that at this point he decided to stab her again, believing that otherwise it would take hours for her to die. Following the second stabbing, he sat down next to her and waited three hours for her to succumb to her injuries.
As morning broke, neighbors noticed the young man holding a blood-stained knife with the wounded dog lying beside him. They immediately alerted the Israel Police, who arrested him at the scene. The dog, named Nala, was rushed for emergency veterinary treatment suffering from internal organ injuries. She underwent surgery and her life was saved.
Prosecutors have charged him with severe intentional animal cruelty, criminal damage to an animal, and illegal possession of a knife. "The accused tortured an animal, acted cruelly, and abused it while intentionally causing severe suffering. The accused maliciously and unlawfully harmed and wounded the animal," the indictment states.
