South Korean Police Rearrest Two Men Days After Court Released Them for Jewel Heist
South Korean police in Yeosu arrested two men for stealing jewelry worth 30 million won, just four days after a judge released them following an identical heist.

Police in Yeosu, South Korea, have arrested two men in their 40s on suspicion of stealing jewelry valued at 30 million won. The arrest comes just four days after the suspects were released by a judge following a nearly identical heist.
According to investigators, the modus operandi was replicated down to the smallest detail. One of the suspects entered a jewelry store in the city, asked to try on gold necklaces worth 30 million won, and fled on foot the moment he put them on. His accomplice was waiting outside in a running getaway car, and the two quickly escaped from the scene.
Within hours, the pair sold the stolen jewelry and gambled away the entire cash proceeds on internet betting websites.
Police Seek Remand After Motel Arrests
Investigators tracked down the suspects hiding in separate motels in neighboring cities and apprehended them on the spot.
Just four days earlier, on October 17, the two men had been captured after stealing a similar haul from another jewelry store in the city. Although police requested an extension of their detention at the time, the court rejected the request, citing no risk of evidence tampering, and ordered their release. Police now intend to submit a renewed request for an arrest warrant.
