Yair Golan, leader of The Democrats, is working to establish a new political axis uniting his party with Ra'am and the Joint List. The goal is to ensure the three factions operate as a single bloc in future coalition negotiations.

According to sources involved in opposition talks, the proposed axis would control 27 mandates: eight for The Democrats, eight for Ra'am, and 11 for the Joint List. Golan reportedly fears a scenario where a unity government is formed and his party is left out, or where other opposition leaders employ a divide-and-conquer strategy to negotiate with each faction separately.

To prevent such an outcome, Golan is promoting an agreement whereby the three factions would enter a government or support it from the outside only as a unified unit. This pact aims to prevent situations where Ra'am might join a coalition while The Democrats remain in the opposition.

Golan has already raised the idea with Joint List figures, including Ahmad Tibi, with initial talks described as businesslike. If finalized, this 27-seat bloc would significantly complicate coalition-building efforts for other opposition leaders such as Naftali Bennett, Avigdor Lieberman, and Gadi Eisenkot.
