Warsaw Chopin Airport Evacuated Following Unattended Luggage Discovery
Chopin Airport in Warsaw was partially evacuated following the discovery of unattended luggage, causing significant flight and traffic disruptions.
Significant disruptions were recorded this evening at Chopin Airport in Warsaw after authorities ordered the evacuation of passengers from several terminals following an unattended piece of luggage left in the departures hall. Bomb disposal experts were rushed to the scene to inspect the suspicious luggage and ensure it posed no danger.
The incident occurred shortly before 7:00 PM local time. According to Warsaw police, passengers were evacuated from terminals A, B, C, D, and E. Police did not specify how many people were evacuated, nor was it immediately clear how long the disruptions would last.
Simultaneously with the evacuation, vehicle traffic in the departures hall area was halted. According to police, only city buses were permitted to operate in the area at this stage.
Police spokesman Pawel Amora stated that authorities received information about abandoned luggage shortly before 7:00 PM. Border guard personnel conducted a pyrotechnic inspection while people were evacuated from the departure halls of terminals A and B as well as the arrivals entrance A1.
