US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth Unveils Sweeping Military Overhaul
US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth announced sweeping military reforms at Quantico, including a 20% reduction in top generals, the creation of an AI and drone command, and a ban on progressive policies.

US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth delivered a sharp address at the Marine Corps Base Quantico in Virginia, outlining sweeping reforms to reshape the United States military under President Donald Trump. In his speech, Hegseth announced plans to eliminate diversity, equity, and inclusion programs, restrict transgender service members, and reduce the number of generals and admirals by 20%.
Overhauling the Pentagon and Media Critique
Describing the previous military leadership as overly bureaucratic and ideological, Hegseth declared that the era of progressive policies in the armed forces has ended. He stated that the Department of Defense must refocus exclusively on combat readiness and lethality. Furthermore, Hegseth launched a scathing attack on mainstream media reporting regarding military readiness and ammunition stockpiles, labeling certain investigative coverage as harmful to national security.
"This is sickening. It is a national betrayal. In fact, it is treason against the homeland," Hegseth declared during the address.
New Autonomous Command and Technological Future
Alongside cultural changes, the Pentagon announced concrete structural innovations. Hegseth introduced the creation of the Autonomous Warfare Command (AutoWarCom), a new four-star command designed to accelerate the integration of drones, robotics, and artificial intelligence into the US military.
Additionally, the defense secretary unveiled Project Meridian, a 120-day study led by high-profile figures including Elon Musk, Palmer Luckey, and Newt Gingrich, aimed at evaluating future warfare technologies and strategic requirements.
