Social media star killed in motorcycle accident — her final moments were captured on helmet camera
Ceyda Yakova, a Turkish content creator who became famous for her motorcycle videos, was killed in an accident near Istanbul. According to reports, her motorcycle wheel hit gravel during a turn, she lost control and crashed into a road sign. Yakova, who had completed a degree in psychology just a month earlier, was taken to the hospital in serious condition but died of her injuries.
Turkish content creator Ceyda Yakova was killed in a motorcycle accident on August 17 near Istanbul. Yakova was known on social media for videos in which she documented her rides. In the past, she also played volleyball for the Teşvikiye sports club.
The accident occurred around 5:00 PM, after Yakova had visited a friend. According to the Turkish news agency DHA, during a turn, one of her motorcycle wheels hit a layer of gravel on the road. Yakova lost her balance and crashed into a sign on the side of the road. Passersby who noticed the accident called the police and ambulance crews. Yakova received initial treatment at the scene and was first taken to the state hospital in Şile. She was later transferred to another hospital due to a deterioration in her condition, where doctors discovered she was suffering from internal bleeding. Specialists fought for her life, but to no avail.
Four days later, footage from her helmet camera was released, showing the moment of the accident. The footage shows Yakova riding on the road before she swerves toward the shoulder, hits a sign, and is thrown from the motorcycle.
Cem Yakova, the influencer's father, said that the family watched the footage after the accident with the prosecutor's permission. According to him, his daughter bought the motorcycle herself after working and saving money, and her interest in motorcycles began in the last two years of her studies.
"We were happy when she was happy," said Cem.
Malek Yakova, Ceyda's mother, rejected the claim that her daughter was at fault for the accident. "My daughter rode very well," she said, adding that motorcycles were a hobby for her and not her whole life. Last April, Yakova was involved in another motorcycle accident, in which she broke her arm. According to her father, after that accident, she was even more careful about protective gear and safety precautions while riding. Yakova was laid to rest at the Ayazağa cemetery in Istanbul.
