The Central Unit of the Tel Aviv District has thwarted the transfer of weaponry intended for use by a criminal organization. During operational activity conducted this morning in southern Tel Aviv, a suspect in his 30s was arrested after two standard fragmentation grenades and two 9mm Beretta pistols were seized in his home.

According to the police statement, detectives conducted the search under a court order as part of the ongoing crackdown on serious and organized crime and the increased use of weaponry among criminal factions. In addition to the grenades and pistols, various rounds of ammunition were confiscated.

The suspect, a Tel Aviv resident, was taken in for questioning. He is expected to appear later today at the Tel Aviv Magistrate's Court for a hearing on the police's request to extend his detention. Police stated that the seized weapons were likely intended for use in an active conflict between criminal organizations, and that their removal from the streets has likely prevented potential loss of life.
