Half a ton of cannabis: Police raided a warehouse and arrested a suspect
Proactive activity by detectives from the Tel Aviv station and intelligence information led to a raid in the Hevel Modi'in region. In addition, cocaine and 21,000 shekels in cash were seized. A 30-year-old suspect was taken for questioning and will be brought for a remand hearing.
Police do not seize such a quantity of drugs every day. Detectives from the Lev Tel Aviv station in the Yarkon district, with the assistance of Tel Aviv Border Police fighters and a police dog handler, uncovered on Wednesday at a farm in the Hevel Modi'in region nearly half a ton of cannabis, additional drugs, and cash.
The proactive operation was carried out in accordance with an ongoing investigation and a search conducted pursuant to a court order. During the operation, forces noticed a commercial vehicle and near it many cartons containing drugs divided into large quantities, suspected to be intended for trade. During the search of the vehicle and its vicinity, approximately 455 kg gross of a substance suspected to be cannabis, approximately 13 grams of a substance suspected to be cocaine, approximately 21,000 shekels in cash, a commercial vehicle, and four mobile phones were seized.
The suspect, a resident of Givat Shmuel in his 30s, was arrested and transferred for questioning at the Lev Tel Aviv station. Today he will be brought to a court hearing, where police will request to extend his detention in accordance with the needs of the investigation.
