Famous restaurant in financial collapse: controversial debts, massive lawsuits
The "Luna Rosa" restaurant in Texas has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy amid lawsuits and controversial debts. Despite the financial turmoil, the management clarifies: the branch will continue to operate as usual during the reorganization process.
The Puerto Rican and tapas restaurant "Luna Rosa Puerto Rican Grill and Tapas," operating in the Southtown area of San Antonio, has filed for bankruptcy protection, according to revealed legal documents.
The dramatic step comes against the backdrop of massive lawsuits and controversial financial demands, according to reports from the USA that did not elaborate further. However, the restaurant's diners can breathe a sigh of relief: the establishment intends to continue operating as usual at its current address on Alamo Street (1014 S. Alamo St.), while simultaneously formulating a plan for restructuring and settling debts.
The restaurant is owned by chef Iris Gonzales-Ornelas, who operates the business together with her family members.
The journey of "Luna Rosa" began in 2015 with its first branch in the Brooks area. Later, the restaurant moved to the former premises of the "Rosario's" restaurant at 910 Alamo St., and last December it moved to its current location.
Over the years, the restaurant has gained much recognition and publicity, among other things after being featured on the successful Food Network television program "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives," where its famous "Caribbean Nachos" dish stood out in particular.
Now, despite the legal complexity and the economic challenge, the restaurant hopes to successfully pass through the reorganization process and continue serving customers.
