The Standards Institution of Israel managed to surprise social media users with an unconventional marketing concept: a short video titled "ASMR moments in the lab." The video, which quickly went viral, showcases one of the most rigorous processes that takes place behind the scenes of the consumer goods world.

At the center of the video, one can see a condom threaded onto a dedicated laboratory device, which gradually inflates it with air until the dramatic moment of rupture. Beyond the amusing and apparently satisfying ASMR effect created by the institution's content team, this is one of the most central and critical tests designed to ensure the quality and safety of the product.

The science behind the volume

In the laboratories of the Standards Institution, volume and burst pressure testing is an integral part of enforcement and standardization for condoms marketed in Israel. As part of the test, the device fills the condom with air (or liquid, depending on the standard's requirements) at a constant rate and accurately measures two key parameters: the maximum volume of air the product can contain before tearing, and the exact burst pressure created on the rubber walls.

The ultimate goal of the test is to ensure that every prototype or production batch meets the strict requirements of the Israeli standard (SI 386) and the corresponding international standards. Only products that successfully pass the required elasticity and strength thresholds receive approval for marketing and shelf placement in Israel, which ensures reliable protection for consumers.
