A million shekels to be distributed: The announcement from Miki Zohar

Following the success recorded last year, the Israeli Film Awards ceremony of the Ministry of Culture and Sport is set to return in 2026. Minister of Culture and Sport Miki Zohar announced the opening of nominations for the event, which is intended to grant recognition to creators working in the local film industry and to place original Israeli creation at the center.

As part of the ceremony, ten awards will be distributed, each amounting to 100,000 shekels. In total, a sum of one million shekels will be distributed among the winners in the various categories. The Ministry of Culture and Sport notes that the goal of the move is to continue strengthening Israeli cinema, to provide a stage for local works, and to encourage quality and diverse creation.

The reopening of nominations marks the ministry's intention to make the ceremony a significant event in the cultural calendar of Israel. Beyond the monetary prizes, the event seeks to grant creators public and professional recognition and to highlight local cinematic activity.
