Groom in wedding convoy caught by police: he never held a driver's license
The suspect (22) initially claimed he had a photo of the license on his phone, but eventually admitted he had never obtained one. The decorated vehicle was confiscated for 30 days. In another case, an 18-year-old was caught driving without a license for the second time within a year. Both vehicles were impounded for 30 days.
A wedding convoy ended in an investigation and the confiscation of a vehicle: officers of the Judea and Samaria District Police stopped a vehicle driven by a 22-year-old groom over the weekend, after noticing that its license plates were obscured. During the check, it turned out that the groom had never obtained a driver's license.
Officers of the Etzion station noticed a convoy of vehicles, including the car of the bride and groom, with its license plates obscured. The officers ordered the driver to stop for an inspection.
According to the police, the groom, a Palestinian resident of the village of Rabud, initially claimed that he did not have his driver's license with him and that he had a photo of it on his mobile phone. However, the officers noticed that he began to get nervous, and after a few minutes he changed his version and admitted that he had never obtained a driver's license at all.
The groom was detained for questioning on suspicion of driving without a license and driving a vehicle with falsified markings. At the end of the investigation, the decorated wedding car was confiscated for 30 days and a traffic procedure was opened against him.
In another case that occurred on Saturday, traffic police officers stopped a vehicle on Highway 35, near the HaZchuchit junction. During the check, it turned out that the driver, an 18-year-old resident of Hebron, had never obtained a license and that this was the second time within a year that he had been caught driving without one. The young man was arrested and transferred for questioning, at the end of which he was imprisoned. His vehicle was also impounded for 30 days.
In total, officers of the Judea District recorded 179 traffic violation reports over the weekend. Among other things, 14 reports were recorded for illegal overtaking, 17 for using a mobile phone, and 23 for serious vehicle defects. The licenses of 14 drivers were revoked and 17 vehicles were impounded.
