Fertility Treatment Mismatch Triggers Multi-Hospital Investigation in Israel
A genetic mismatch between a father and his 13-year-old son, born via fertility treatments abroad and in Israel, has triggered an investigation across multiple hospitals and the Ministry of Health.

A genetic mismatch has been discovered between a father and his teenage son born 13 years ago following fertility treatments abroad and in Israel, prompting a multi-hospital investigation and involvement from the Ministry of Health.
The complex medical case began roughly 13 years ago when a co-parenting couple underwent fertility treatments abroad, which subsequently continued at another medical facility in Israel and ultimately concluded at a major hospital in central Israel where the successful in vitro fertilization and birth took place.
On Wednesday morning, legal correspondence regarding the incident was received by the central hospital where the procedure was performed. Authorities are now working to trace the handling of the genetic material across all participating medical institutions to determine where the discrepancy occurred, while the Ministry of Health has been formally notified of the unusual event.
