A day before the start of the school year: the chilling discovery in the kindergarten yard

During an operation by fighters of the Sa'ar unit and the National Guard, in cooperation with detectives from the Rahat station, the forces arrived to carry out a targeted search at a complex in the city of Rahat, near a kindergarten located behind a nursery. During the activity, a report was received about suspects seen tampering with something inside the complex. Following the report, the forces carried out an operational drive to the location and began searching the complex.

During the search, weapons and ammunition were found inside two bags. A Glock pistol and 5.56 mm caliber ammunition were hidden in the bags. After tracking the suspects, two residents of the city aged 38 and 40 were arrested and transferred along with the findings for further investigation and processing at the Rahat station.

Police Major Matti Zarfati, Operations Officer of the Sa'ar unit, stated:

"Operational activity in the field allows us to quickly reach locations where there is a suspicion of possession of illegal weapons and to act to neutralize the threat. The seizure of weapons and ammunition near a kindergarten illustrates the risk inherent in possessing illegal weapons in the civilian space. We will continue to act with determination and with all the means at our disposal for the sake of public safety."
