Bus driver filmed using phone and wedding convoy blocked road: enforcement operation in Jerusalem
Traffic police officers operated in the south and east of the capital. The driver was brought in for questioning after being filmed using a mobile phone while driving. Five delivery riders were fined, one driver is suspected of driving under the influence of drugs, and two vehicles were taken off the road.
A targeted enforcement operation by the police in the south and east of Jerusalem concluded with the questioning of drivers, the issuance of fines, and the removal of two vehicles from the road. Among other things, a bus driver was questioned after being filmed using a phone while driving, and a driver involved in a wedding convoy was fined for obstructing traffic.
Officers from the central unit of the traffic division in the Jerusalem District carried out the operation with the aim of reducing life-threatening traffic violations and increasing governance in the city. In the south of Jerusalem, officers issued fines to five motorcyclists working for delivery services. Among the offenses attributed to them: driving on a sidewalk and making a U-turn in a prohibited place.
During the operation, a driver was detained after suspicion arose that he was driving under the influence of drugs, and an investigation file was opened against him. In another case, a bus driver was located who had been filmed using a mobile phone while driving. He was brought in for questioning on suspicion of endangering his passengers and other road users.
With the assistance of the "Mabat Jerusalem" control center, a driver was also located who allegedly participated in a wedding convoy on the Begin Highway last weekend and obstructed traffic. The driver was questioned and fined. In the east of the city, officers issued two fines for vehicle defects and removed two vehicles from the road. Additionally, a driver who committed a repeat traffic offense of running a red light was fined 3,000 shekels.
