A 12 Million Shekel Budget: A Moving Gesture of Support for Kibbutz Nir Oz Families
The KKL board of directors has approved a 12 million shekel budget to facilitate the relocation of approximately 40 families from Kibbutz Nir Oz to Kibbutz Beit Nir. The project, aimed at rebuilding the community, is now entering its practical phase.
The KKL board of directors, chaired by Eyal Ostrinsky, has approved a budget allocation of 12 million shekels for the absorption of about 40 families from the Kibbutz Nir Oz community into Kibbutz Beit Nir, located within the Yoav Regional Council. The funds are earmarked for adapting public buildings, upgrading educational systems, and establishing necessary infrastructure to enable the evacuees to rebuild their homes and daily routines.
This decision marks a major milestone in a process that began in November 2023, following the October 7 massacre, when the Yoav Regional Council immediately stepped up to integrate children from Nir Oz into its educational frameworks. The bond formed during the crisis continued to deepen, and in April 2025, members of Kibbutz Beit Nir approved the official absorption plan for Nir Oz residents by an overwhelming majority of 95.3%.

Head of the Yoav Regional Council, Nati Lerner, thanked the KKL Chairman and board members for their support and partnership:
"We do not forget for a moment the severe blow that the Nir Oz community suffered. Since that day, we in Yoav chose to stand by the Gaza envelope communities out of solidarity and responsibility. I express great appreciation to the Beit Nir community, which took upon itself a national mission of the highest order. Now our shared responsibility is to turn this value-based choice into reality and allow the families to build a home and a future here."

In a letter to residents, Kibbutz Beit Nir Chairman Shahar Levi and Community Manager Liron Cohen also welcomed the decision, defining it as a particularly significant moment for the kibbutz. They noted that the budgetary support from KKL is a cornerstone in realizing the vision of a shared future and thanked the steering committees and volunteers who accompanied the process.
As part of the preparations, seven working groups were established in Beit Nir to address education, resilience, infrastructure, and culture. With the budget now approved, the practical stage of upgrading infrastructure is underway, paving the way for a safe and shared future for both communities.
