Farmer extorted by 3 brothers from Lod: "Prepare the money before I arrive at your house and to your father"

A farmer from the north was extorted by three brothers, residents of Lod, who presented themselves as members of the Jarushi family. Following an investigation by Northern District police officers, indictments were filed against them.

The Northern District Police received a report from a farmer, a resident of the Golan, who was subjected to extortion by threats. During this criminal activity, he paid the suspects, who claimed to be members of the Jarushi family, approximately 80,000 shekels and was coerced into paying tens of thousands more under threats of physical harm.

It also emerged during the investigation that in addition to the funds the victim paid, he transferred 1,640 kg of cherries to the extortionists under the pretext of a deal. In practice, he received no payment for the goods, and the value of the cherries was not deducted from his alleged "debt" to the accused.

As part of the investigation, numerous messages received by the victim on his phone were uncovered, which included threats such as:

"Prepare the money before I arrive at your house and to your father and I will make a big story, I want the money today, I am not waiting for the 30th of the month."

Meetings that the three held with him were also uncovered, including on his agricultural land, where they demanded the money.

On August 5, the investigation became public, and Northern District police officers arrested the three brothers, residents of Lod aged 31, 41, and 45. Two were apprehended while traveling in a vehicle in the northern region, and the third was arrested in the center of the country.

On Sunday, following the conclusion of the investigation, the Northern District Attorney's Office, through attorney Salim Bashara, filed an indictment in the District Court in Nof HaGalil - Nazareth for offenses of extortion by threats and obtaining property by fraud under aggravating circumstances.
