UK Warns Iran Over Threats on British Soil During UN Talks

British Foreign Secretary David Miliband told Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi in a face-to-face meeting that the United Kingdom will not tolerate intimidation or hostile activity on British soil by groups linked to Iran.
Miliband met with Araghchi on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York. The Foreign Office in London reported that the two discussed the Middle East conflict, the importance of opening the Strait of Hormuz, and Britain's unwavering determination to counter threats from Iran-linked groups.
The Foreign Office stated that Miliband urged Iran to choose de-escalation and diplomacy rather than prolonging the war, while emphasizing freedom of navigation. He also reiterated Britain's resolve to combat threats on British soil, including attacks targeting the British Jewish community.
Just over a week prior, British intelligence services reported uncovering an Iranian espionage campaign targeting sensitive information globally. Days earlier, the Metropolitan Police arrested two individuals suspected of assisting Iranian intelligence.
