UBTECH Opens World's First Smart Factory for Humanoid Robots in China
Chinese robotics firm UBTECH has opened the world's first smart factory for humanoid robots in Liuzhou, aiming to produce 10,000 units annually using advanced digital systems.

Chinese robotics firm UBTECH has launched what it describes as the world's first smart factory dedicated to humanoid robot production, designed for an annual capacity of 10,000 units. Located in Liuzhou, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, the facility can manufacture one humanoid industrial robot every 10 minutes.
Smart Manufacturing and Digital Brain
The facility spans 14,000 square meters with a height of 13.8 meters, focusing primarily on the production of UBTECH's Walker S and Cruzr series. The plant implements a "robots building robots" model, utilizing industrial simulation systems and a digital "smart brain" to manage production scheduling, material handling, and quality control automatically.
"Chinese robotics has reached the global top tier, backed by a strong foundation of engineers, scientists, and robust supply chains," said Fang Jianxin, Vice President at UBTECH.
Automated Assembly and Quality Control
Humanoid models such as Cruzr Y1 and Cruzr S2 perform internal tasks including pallet unloading and material transport. Final assembly relies on collaborative robots, robotic arms, and automated guided vehicles (AGVs). Quality assurance is extensive, with each unit undergoing over four hours of comprehensive testing and a 360-degree visual inspection inside a specialized lighting tunnel.
The expansion aligns with a broader surge in China's industrial robotics sector. According to the National Bureau of Statistics, China produced 98,677 industrial robots in July, representing a 30.2% increase year-on-year.
