UAV Debris Found on Kiryat Haim Beach Triggers Police Response
A resident discovered UAV test debris from Rafael on the Kiryat Haim beach, prompting a police response after initial delays as security forces secured the area.
Shlomi Sirioti, 65, discovered UAV debris on the beach in Kiryat Haim on Friday morning and immediately contacted the Israel Police while spotting another drone approaching from the water.
Initially, police dispatchers did not grasp the significance, but after multiple calls, officers arrived to collect the findings from the scene. It was later revealed that the debris belonged to routine testing by Rafael, with similar drone parts found in other areas across the north.
"Every morning around quarter to seven, I walk along the Kiryat Haim beach," Sirioti said. "When I saw a UAV, I called the 100 emergency hotline and asked them to come check. At first, the police dismissed it, but after repeated calls and explaining the need for a sapper, officers and lifeguards secured the area."
Rafael stated in response that the incident involved routine, planned, and coordinated activity with all relevant authorities, emphasizing that there is no danger from the recovered parts.
