Natalie Harp, one of U.S. President Donald Trump's closest aides, is at the center of a new report revealing behind-the-scenes details before the decision to block access for CNN, Politico, and MS NOW to the White House.
According to CNN, Harp showed the president a graphic published by Politico featuring critical coverage of him and his administration, which immediately provoked his fury. Sources noted that the graphic angered the president significantly.
Additional articles and broadcasts alleged to be unfair were subsequently presented to him, and shortly thereafter the unusual decision to ban the three media outlets from the White House was made.
Meanwhile, network sources claimed the unusual move caught some administration officials by surprise and was not a premeditated decision as part of an organized media strategy.
The confrontation with the media did not end there. Days later, the White House officially launched "TRUMP TV", a 24-hour online broadcast channel designed to transmit all of the administration's speeches, statements, and major events directly to the public without the mediation or filtering of news networks.
