"Constantly muah-muah": The Silman couple reveals the gaps in their political life
Minister Idit Silman and her husband Shmulik gave a revealing joint interview about life alongside the political arena. When asked directly about his wife's observance of physical contact laws (shmirat negiah), the minister quickly intervened to lighten the mood.
A joint interview with Minister Idit Silman and her husband, Shmulik Silman, provided some amusing and intriguing moments as the couple spoke openly about their relationship and the challenges of living with someone deeply immersed in the political arena.
During the conversation, interviewer Avi Shoshan directed a particularly direct question to Shmulik: "How do you feel about the fact that your wife does not observe shmirat negiah (laws of physical contact)?". Shmulik replied, "I see her at a wedding, and every second it's muah-muah; you know, after all, she is a religious woman." Idit Silman interrupted with a smile, "No need to exaggerate with the descriptions."
The minister's husband responded that he has never intervened in her religious matters.
The minister herself joined the exchange, sharing that while she did not strictly cover her hair after their wedding, she now wears a head-covering band. "There are much wider bands," she added, "but Shmulik never commented on it."
Idit Silman admitted that her husband is more strict than she is regarding the observance of shmirat negiah, noting that today she sees things a bit differently: "It is always possible to be better."
