Ahead of the upcoming academic year, Arizona State University (ASU) launched a bachelor's degree in content creation in October 2026. The unique track includes courses on topics such as audience building, branding, and multimedia content production.

"Dreaming of turning your video channel into a source of income or making social media your career? Learn to create content using video, podcasts, and emerging platforms, while building your brand," the program description states.

What will students actually learn?

The degree is designed to train students to become "influencers" and "strategic storytellers who thrive in the rapidly evolving creator economy." Among other things, they will learn to plan content, produce videos, podcasts, and manage personal branding. In addition, they will have the opportunity to gain practical experience through photography studies in Scotland and social media studies in Tokyo.

Upon graduation, students will be able to integrate into roles in content strategy, digital creation, brand development, social media management, and audience engagement across a variety of industries. The tuition cost for the degree has not yet been published, but the base tuition at ASU is $12,177 (about 36,000 shekels) per year for state residents, according to the university's website.

Although this is a relatively new track, Arizona State University is not the only one in the United States offering this type of degree. St. Bonaventure University in New York also offers a Bachelor of Arts in content creation, with the first students expected to start in October 2026.

In Israel, the field of content creation and online influence has become an industry generating millions of shekels. However, rates vary significantly depending on audience size, view counts, influencer status, and content type.

Shiran Peretz, a communications and public relations professional, explained in an interview with C14 that charges depend on followers and, mainly, on views: "Influencers with 10,000–50,000 followers can charge from hundreds up to 3,000–5,000 shekels per activity. In the 50,000–100,000 follower range, prices usually hover around 3,000–8,000 shekels."

According to her, influencers with 100,000–300,000 followers can price a reel in the range of 5,000–15,000 shekels. For large influencers with 300,000–400,000 followers and above, a commercial reel can range from 10,000–30,000 shekels, with top names charging even more.

But behind the numbers and the glamorous image, there is significant work. Natalie Dadon, one of Israel's most prominent influencers, explained that the gap between the profession's external appearance and daily reality is large: "From the outside, it can look like a very comfortable profession, but in practice, it is a job that accompanies you almost around the clock. There is content creation, filming, editing, meetings, campaigns, and, above all, the need to be constantly connected to your community."
